Advice for myself
- Avoid pride
-
Know how to admit mistakes
-
don't hide lack of knowledge
- be honest
- Don't underestimate yourself
- Don't overestimate yourself
- Dare
-
(Only daring can lead to the kinds of mistakes from which practical knowledge
comes. Occultism is like carpentry: one only gets the feel of the wood
by an awful lot of practice.)
- Give up when necessary
-
The world may not be ready for what you are envisioning. And if it is not,
your dream is premature, however beautiful.
- Learn by observing the processes
in yourself and others.
- Give what you've learnt
- people may be ready to hear it - what is relevant for you is very probably
also relevant for others. Also: people may have knowledge that puts what
you thought was knowledge on a different footing, prove it wrong or change
the context in a way that changes the relevance.
- Perseverance:
-
Be faithful to the truth you know, let others go, as you don't know them
as truths, it is not your responsibility to defend them. (e.g. reincarnation
for many of us).
-
Be faithful to the fact that it is your duty to live your life the best
way you know how. Don't let disappointment stop you from trying to contribute
- your place of work may be humble or very visible, that does not matter.
All that is asked is that you do what you can.
-
Life will often not be kind. If it is not, try your best to remain kind,
calm and just, even to those whom are perceived (by yourself or by them)
as your enemies. Your trials are your test.
- A loving, kind and generous
heart are far more important than other virtues that may be practised and
studied.
- No more is asked than that
you do what you can, yet you are probably able to do more than you think.
Don't let your thoughts of the possible stop you, if they are motivated
by fear or self-consciousness.
